Wellesley Modernist
Modern European
A portrait of the project
Wellesley Modernist sits in Wellesley, MA — a modern european kitchen built around the architecture, the light, and the way this family actually lives. A new-build modern home needed a kitchen that disappeared into the architecture — no visible hardware, no appliance fronts, no clutter — while supporting a family of five.
The challenge
A new-build modern home needed a kitchen that disappeared into the architecture — no visible hardware, no appliance fronts, no clutter — while supporting a family of five.
The solution
A handleless Italian system in rift oak with a concealed scullery behind a flush pocket door. Fully integrated Gaggenau appliances and a sculpted porcelain waterfall island anchor the room.

Architect's approach
How we designed it.
We started with proportion, not product. The plan was drawn in elevation first — every horizontal line, every reveal, every shadow gap resolved on paper before a single cabinet was specified. Appliance placement followed sightlines, not convention. The cabinetry was selected last, to serve the geometry already decided.

About the style
Modern European Kitchens.
Modern European design is an argument against the unnecessary. Cabinets lose their handles. Appliances disappear behind matched fronts. The room is reduced until only the essential — light, proportion, material — remains. The result is calm that reads as luxury without ever announcing it.
